The Greek Orthodontic Society is the oldest and largest orthodontic scientific society in Greece and completed 60 years of activities in 2023. It was founded in 1963, and has the purpose of promoting the discipline of Orthodontics and supporting orthodontic specialists in Greece.
Within the framework of the continuous training and education of orthodontic specialists in Greece, the Greek Orthodontic Society, organizes educational scientific events at regular intervals, with the most significant being the organization of the annual National Congress, which is co-organized with the Orthodontic Society of Northern Greece, and the bi-annual International Symposium. In its 60 years of activities, the Society has organized 26 National Conferences, 17 International Symposia, as well as numerous seminars.
Moreover, the Greek Orthodontic Society is a founding member and a national representative in the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO) and the European Federation of Orthodontics (FEO). Current and former presidents and members of its Boards of Trustees have served or currently serve as members, vice-presidents or presidents of the aforementioned international organizations. Furthermore, the Greek Orthodontic Society publishes the only bilingual orthodontic scientific journal in Greece (Hellenic Orthodontic Review).
