Tatiana Porcel possesses nearly 13 years of experience and has dedicatedher clinical practice primarily to Orthodontics from a multidisciplinary approach.
She holds Specialist and Master’s Degrees in Orthodonticsand Dentofacial Orthopedics, which has complemented with additional postgraduate studies in Oral Rehabilitation and Dental Aesthetics.
She maintains active membership in several dental associations, includingthe SBO, ALADO, WFO and AAO, affording her numerous opportunities to participate in National and International courses and meetings, both as a student, guest lecturer and postgraduate professor.
Lecture: Let's Talk About Smile Analysis, A Multidisciplinary Approach
In modern dentistry, the aesthetics of the smile has emerged as a primary concern of both patients and orthodontists. In fact, it is currently one of the primary motivations for patients seeking orthodontic treatment. To address this concern, smile analysis has become a vital stage in the diagnosis, planning and prognosis of any dental treatment aimed at achieving aesthetic objectives.
A comprehensive evaluation of the intrinsic characteristics of the smile is a necessary procedure that significantly influences orthodontic programming. Thus, it requires the recognition of the components and factors that interfere with said characteristics. One of the crucial aspects of the smile analysis is the assessment of the smile lines, which facilitates understanding, and their harmonization during orthodontic treatment will give to the professional a greater chance of success in completing their cases.
While evaluating beauty is a highly subjective matter, the purpose of this presentation is to allow clinicians to appropriate with tools to help distinguish more accurately what needs to be done, what can be done, and what would be acceptable to achieve the desired results. Traditional orthodontic analysis is insufficient to perceive the details that interfere with an ideal smile. As such, clinicians will be capable of assessing several factors, including the smile arc, tooth shape, gingival arrangement, presence of buccal corridors, coincidence of facial and dental midlines, tooth color, and the labial disposition, thorough which will concede them to constitute an adequate treatment plan with a multidisciplinary perspective, ultimately leading to a successful treatment outcome.
